At SpaceX, Tim is responsible for the company's policy, regulatory, and global business efforts.

Mr. Gregory J. Dyson '76, P'11, '13 received the Insignis Medal and Mr. Tim Wisecarver received the Joyce Award at the annual President's Councilors Dinner on October 12 at Columbia Country Club.

Established in 1981, the Insignis Medal is Georgetown Prep's highest honor. The awards name is taken from The Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius Loyola.

In his welcoming remarks, President Rev. Scott R. Pilarz, S.J., noted, "Tonight, we celebrate two men who play pivotal roles in making Prep greater."

Fr. Pilarz added, "Tonight, I have the honor of presenting the Insignis Medal, our highest honor, to Gregory Dyson. Insignis is the Latin word for 'exceptional' and an apt descriptor of Gregory. He exemplifies in exceptional ways Georgetown Preparatory School's highest ideals and aspirations."

Mr. Dyson served on Georgetown Prep's Board of Trustees from 2011-2017 and was Chair of the Board for the last three. In addition to his leadership as a Board member, Mr. Dyson served on the most recent Presidential Search Committee. A graduate of the class of 1976, Mr. Dyson was a boarding student while he attended Georgetown Prep. His two sons, Adam '11 and Alden '13, are proud Prep graduates.

John Edward Joyce taught more than 2,000 students during his 36 years as a member of Prep's faculty. Best remembered in life for his playful yet demanding style of instruction, Mr. Joyce's legacy is also one of extraordinary loyalty and generosity. The Joyce Award was established in his memory in 2004 and is presented to a member of the faculty who exemplifies Prep's core values and ideals in recognition of a deep commitment to the school and its students.

In introducing Mr. Tim Wisecarver, Fr. Pilarz praised the devotion, enthusiasm, and selflessness the longtime faculty member displays daily.

For over 30 years, Prep has benefited from Tim's talents and from his deep commitment to our students.

The President's Councilors Dinner is held annually to honor leading donors to Prep's Annual Fund and past winners of the Insignis Medal.

Eight Georgetown Prep students and four faculty members represented Georgetown Prep at the Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice November 4-6 in Crystal City, Virginia.

The Ignatian Teach-In is an annual event that gathers hundreds of students from various Jesuit-related institutions. Nearly 2,000 participated in this year's 20th annual Ignatian Teach-In for Justice.

The group also participated in Advocacy Day on November 6 and met with Representative G.K. Butterfield (D-NC 1st District) to discuss issues of race and justice as befits our annual theme of reconciliation.

The context of the event is social justice and solidarity and always takes place in conjunction with the anniversary of the Jesuit martyrs of El Salvador.

At the Ignatian Teach-In, students learn, pray, network, and advocate together around social justice issues. The event empowers, re-energizes and inspires our country's youth who are part of the Ignatian family.

According to the Ignatian Solidary Network, the Teach-In is "known as the largest annual Catholic social justice gathering in the U.S., the Teach-In attracts many young people ages 16-22, representing over 120 Jesuit and other Catholic universities, high schools, and parishes in the U.S., as well as Canada, Mexico, and El Salvador."
