Connie Shaffer Mitchell has been named Georgetown Preparatory School's next Director of Marketing and Communications.
For the last eleven years, Mrs. Mitchell has served as Director of Marketing and Communications at her alma mater, Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart. At Stone Ridge, Mrs. Mitchell was responsible for developing and implementing the School's marketing, communications, and brand-promotion strategies and developing new media practices, particularly the School's social media platforms and electronic avenues, to reach all Stone Ridge's constituencies, as well as new audiences. In addition, she served as a member of the administrative team and greatly contributed to the School's ongoing Cor Unum • One Heart campus enhancement campaign.
Rev. James R. Van Dyke, S.J., Georgetown Prep's President, noted on Mrs. Mitchell's appointment, "After conducting a national search to find our next Director of Marketing and Communications, we are extremely pleased to have Connie join our senior administrative team. She is a proven leader in independent school marketing and communications and has achieved remarkable success at Stone Ridge. Moreover, her knowledge and appreciation for our Catholic, Jesuit mission will be a great asset as she sets out to help us tell Georgetown Prep's great story. Mrs. Mitchell added, "I am very much looking forward to contributing to the strong mission and community of Georgetown Prep and telling the stories of their outstanding young men. I have a profound appreciation for how a Jesuit education shapes, nurtures, and educates our youth."
Mrs. Mitchell attended law school at the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America after earning a Bachelor's in Communications (and a minor in Italian), at Fairfield University, and studying in Florence, Italy.
She lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband and two daughters.
Mrs. Mitchell will begin on July 6.
Prep's current Director of Marketing and Communications, Patrick J. Coyle '03, was named the Chief Communications Officer at Lake Forest Academy (Illinois) earlier this summer.
