Tell us about yourself.
I'm originally from Clarksville, Maryland and grew up going to school in a suburb of Baltimore in Owings Mills. After graduation I headed up north where I studied Sculpture and Western Art History at Boston University in undergrad. I loved Boston and BU so much I returned for my masters degree in Art Education, which I completed this past spring. I'm happy to be back home in Maryland and a short drive from family, including my brother in Baltimore. Our family dog, Lucky, is also happy her "kids" are back in the area as adults to go on plenty of hikes with her.
What were you like as a student in high school? In high school I was definitely your stereotypical art kid, always out of uniform and hiding out in the art classrooms. I ran our school's ceramics club with a few of my friends and served on the school's honor board for four years. I also ran track and played field hockey. I was lucky enough to be a part of sports teams in high school, while actively being involved in the arts scene.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?I would love to live in Maine on a lake somewhere. I love hiking and being outdoors and Acadia is one of my favorite national parks.
Tell us about your favorite place you have visited.
My favorite place that I have traveled to is Glacier National Park. I loved being able to see what is left of the glaciers and eating endless huckleberries. At Glacier I saw a grizzly bear for the first time, which was an amazing experience.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you be?
It sounds silly, but it would have to be Daphne from Scooby Doo. Solving mysteries all over the world with your best friends and a talking dog seems like a good time to me. Also, her outfits are pretty great. I'd love to wear a strictly purple and green wardrobe with matching headbands.
What is your greatest achievement?
I would say my greatest achievement is that I get to do what I love for a living. Art and teaching art are my two greatest passions. The fact that I get to do what I am most passionate about every day is something I consider a huge accomplishment.
