The following message from Rev. James R. Van Dyke, S.J., President of Georgetown Prep, was sent to the School community on Monday, August 3, 2020.

Dear Georgetown Prep Students, Parents, Faculty, and Staff,

On Friday, 31 July, the Montgomery County Health Department issued a directive that all non-public schools "including private, parochial, and schools affiliated with religious institutions – remain closed for in-person instruction through October 1."

In a letter to parents and students on 17 July, Headmaster John Glennon Jr., and I outlined our plan to welcome students back to campus while offering virtual learning options for students who could not or did not feel comfortable returning to campus in person. Our leadership team developed thorough, meticulous protocols and plans that followed CDC guidelines and protocols set by the State and local health officials.

Georgetown Prep is currently reviewing Montgomery County's directive, as well as Maryland Governor Larry Hogan's statements, and we will evaluate how best to proceed for students and the entire Georgetown Prep community.

Georgetown Prep will communicate the School's plans to the Prep community in the coming days.

Sincerely,

Rev. James R. Van Dyke, S.J.
President
