Coach Dan Paro '79 and the Georgetown Prep varsity football team won the 2019 Interstate Athletic Conference (I.A.C.) title at home on November 9 with a 22-16 victory over Bullis.
Bullis scored the game's first points and led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. Bullis scored again early in the second quarter to take a 13-0 lead. On the Hoyas' next possession, quarterback Will Angrick '21 capped off an 80-yard drive with a touchdown pass to Dominic Welsh '20. Bullis led 13-7 at the half.
Bullis added a field goal in the third quarter to take a nine-point lead, 16-7. With six minutes remaining in the game, Angrick scored on a four-yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 16-14. After Prep's defense held Bullis to a three-and-out, Prep got the ball back with four minutes remaining in the championship game. Prep marched down the field and running back Jalen Hampton '20 scored on a one-yard run to put Prep up 20-16. Hampton converted on the two-point conversion to put the Hoyas up 22-16 with less than two minutes left in the game. Isaiah West '22's interception on Bullis' next possession sealed the win for the Hoyas. Prep won the 2019 I.A.C. Championship game, 22-16. Read The Washington Post's full recap of the game.
In I.A.C. conference play, the Hoyas' defense only allowed 51 points from opponents in five games and the Prep offense scored 125 points.
Prep finished the season with an 8-2 record and 5-0 in the I.A.C. Prep is ranked #12 in the latest Washington Post's high school football poll.
