Eight Georgetown Prep students and four faculty members represented Georgetown Prep at the Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice November 4-6 in Crystal City, Virginia.

The Ignatian Teach-In is an annual event that gathers hundreds of students from various Jesuit-related institutions. Nearly 2,000 participated in this year's 20th annual Ignatian Teach-In for Justice.

The group also participated in Advocacy Day on November 6 and met with Representative G.K. Butterfield (D-NC 1st District) to discuss issues of race and justice as befits our annual theme of reconciliation.

The context of the event is social justice and solidarity and always takes place in conjunction with the anniversary of the Jesuit martyrs of El Salvador.

At the Ignatian Teach-In, students learn, pray, network, and advocate together around social justice issues. The event empowers, re-energizes and inspires our country's youth who are part of the Ignatian family.

According to the Ignatian Solidary Network, the Teach-In is "known as the largest annual Catholic social justice gathering in the U.S., the Teach-In attracts many young people ages 16-22, representing over 120 Jesuit and other Catholic universities, high schools, and parishes in the U.S., as well as Canada, Mexico, and El Salvador."
